School Education Budget 2024: Outlay rises by Rs 4,200 crore. Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan sees small increase; mid-day meal gets Rs 800 crore more.
The decision was taken at a UGC meeting with regulators, NAAC, NIRF. UGC chairman, M Jagadesh Kumar pushed for NEP 2020 implementation.
AISHE: Uttarakhand saw numbers drop in PhD; in Manipur and Kerala, the decline was at the UG level. West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand saw enrolment rise.
New UGC rules will require colleges to have 75% of teaching posts filled and to pay teachers on central or state salary scale to be eligible for funds.
AICTE Approval: For the first year, institutes are not required to upgrade infrastructure, change exam systems or pay Technical Education Regulatory (TER) fees.
Professionals living within 75 km of an institute are eligible for its BTech, BBA, MBA and other UG, PG courses. AICTE’s original limit was 50 km.
