NEW DELHI, AUGUST 29: An FIR has been registered against the Northern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management (NIILM) University, Kaithal for obtaining scholarship money from the government by submitting bogus documents.
The Vigilance Bureau of Haryana Government has registered the FIR against the varsity management as it has been found to have allegedly obtained scholarships worth Rs 17.42 lakh under the central government scheme of Post-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste Students.
As per the FIR, NIILM University obtained the scholarship worth Rs 17.42 lakh in the name of 12 Scheduled Caste students from the Director of Higher Education, Haryana on the account of said students in Vijaya Bank. The money was later allegedly diverted to the NIILM University Account. As per the Vigilance Bureau on the investigation, the 12 SC students were found to be fake and declined to have an account in Vijaya Bank.
The University has obtained Scholarships worth Rs.5 Crore under the said Scheme in past five years, the Bureau is looking to probe in detail.
NIILM was in news a few months back for alleged non payment of salary to some staff members since the past year. It was also revealed that the management had threatened to sack the staff demanding their salaries.
