G20 Summit 2023: IIM Kashipur hosts 'G20 University Connect' lecture series

G20 2023: IIM Kashipur hosted the event under the theme "Engaging Young Minds".
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur hosted a lecture series under the 'G20 University Connect' initiative. The theme of the event was "Engaging Young Minds".
The event was attended by Ambassador L Savithri, from the Ministry of External Affairs, India along with K N Badhani, who delivered the welcoming address. Various professors and guests from diverse fields delivered lectures at the event. The lecture sessions were followed by question-and-answer sessions, allowing students to interact directly with the guests.

After the event, a prize distribution ceremony was organized followed by the playing of the national anthem. Preet Tejwani, general secretary of the student body council IIM proposed the vote of thanks.
L Savithri speaking on India's role in the G20 community talked about the genesis of the G20 and its impact on global affairs.” How crises in 1999 and 2000 prompted the formation of G20, a coalition of 20 countries responsible for a significant portion of the world's population, GDP, and trade. The G20 summit and its rotating presidency provide a platform for nations to collaboratively address the pressing issues.” Savithri further added.

The ambassador applauded IIM Kashipur's achievement in securing the 19th rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), according to the institute. “ India's focus on energy transition and its dedication to amplifying the voices of marginalised nations, communities, and individuals through the "Voice of the Global South" initiative” the ambassador stated.
The event featured lectures by professors Kunal Ganguly and Abhradeep Maiti. As per the institute, Ganguly highlighted the infrastructural investment and logistics optimization while Maiti discussed international trade and economic activities.
