NEW DELHI, JULY 7: IIT Madras, the organizing institute for GATE 2019 has announced all the relevant details pertaining to the exam and has also released the brochure on July 6. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2019 will be held on February 2, 3, 9 and 10 in online mode. This year, there have been a few surprises with the introduction of a new paper – Statistics (ST), an extended application date schedule with a late fee for applicants in case they miss applying during the regular deadlines.

GATE is the entrance test held each year by one of the seven IITs or IISc Bangalore for admissions to the various M.Tech programmes offered by the IITs, IISc Bangalore, NITs and GFTIs. In addition, the GATE scores are also used by many leading PSUs for recruitment purposes.

GATE 2019 application form will be available online from September 1 onwards till September 21, 2018. Applicants who miss applying during these dates can apply till October 1, 2018 on payment of a late fee of Rs 500 (USD 20 for candidates from centres abroad). The eligibility criteria has been specified by IIT Madras and candidates must ensure they meet it before applying.

The entrance exam is held on consecutive Saturdays and Sundays in two sessions per day on February 2,3 9 and 10, 2019. The exam schedule detailing the tests paper wise will be released tentatively in December. Candidates may avail mock tests for each paper in November when they are expected to be available.

Admit card can be downloaded by candidates from January 4, 2019 onwards till the completion of the exam. All candidates will have to carry a valid photo ID in original along with the admit card while appearing for the exam.

The result will be announced on March 16 while the score card for qualifying candidates will be available for download from March 20 to May 31 and thereafter till December 31 on payment of a fee of Rs 500. The score card is valid for a period of three years from the date of declaration of the result.
