GATE exam 2025 concludes; what’s next for MTech aspirants?

Try NowNEW DELHI : The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has concluded the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 exam today, February 16. The GATE exam 2025 was held on February 1, 2, 15, and 16 in two shifts – forenoon session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Candidates rated GATE 2025 as overall moderate in difficulty level, having questions from previous-year question papers (PYQs). The exam was held for a duration of three hours for as many as 30 test papers this time. The GATE 2025 question paper included two sections – general aptitude and candidate’s selected subject.
The entrance exam was held in 11 more exam cities this year. The institute changed GATE 2025 exam centres for some candidates over congregation due to MahaKumbh 2025 and issued fresh admit cards.
Candidates will be negatively marked for wrong responses in the multiple choice questions. There is no negative marking in the multiple select questions (MSQs) and numerical-type questions (NATs).
GATE 2025 results
Now, the IIT will issue the GATE answer key 2025 along with the candidate’s GATE 2025 response sheets. Applicants will be allowed to challenge the provisional key which will be then finalised for result preparation. GATE 2025 results will be declared on March 19, 2025 as per the information bulletin. A normalisation process will be used to prepare GATE 2025 scores as the exam was held in multiple sessions.
Based on the number of candidates, difficulty-level, and previous years’ trends, the IIT Roorkee will determine the qualifying GATE cut-off 2025 . After the declaration of GATE result 2025, various institutes will issue their programme-wise GATE cut-off marks 2025 for MTech admissions.
GATE exam is held every year for admission to postgraduate programmes offered by the IITs, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and others. GATE scores are also used by the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment .
