GD Goenka University to host 2nd edition ‘Fotographia 2018’

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 24: If the number of entries are anything to go by, young and passionate shutterbugs and filmmakers are evincing keen interest in the forthcoming 'Fotographia 2018,' the second International Students' Film and Photography festival being organised by School of Communication, G D Goenka University. The event will be held on 26th October 2018, at G D Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.
               
The overall theme of the 2nd edition of the festival is “Beautiful Lives: Human Dignity, Human Rights” which has received over 300 photographs from school students along with over a hundred film entries in different categories of films like long films, short films, documentaries and public service advertisements across the globe including USA, UAE, Bangladesh, Germany, Hungry and Australia.

“It is a creative attempt to influence and sensitize young minds to understand critical issues related to sustainable development goals and human rights and the kind of positive transformations it can bring in our society”, says Prof. (Dr.) Ritu S. Sood, Dean, School of Communication

The shortlisted films will be screened and the finalist photographs be exhibited on the day of the event in the presence of chief guests and panel of eminent jury. Renowned actor, director and producer, Mr Viveck Vaswani, who is associated with various film festivals and is committed towards promoting cinema amongst youth, will be the Chief Guest this year.
On being the Chief Guest for the event Mr Viveck Vaswani said, “It is very satisfying experience to be with young, energetic and creative pools of talent. Festivals like these help us understand the way the new generation looks at the world and perceives their creativity. I congratulate team Fotographia for providing a platform for youngsters and bringing together filmmakers, media educators and young creative minds together.”

Sitanshu Kar, Principal Director General, PIB and Mr. Hojatollah Abedi, Deputy Cultural Counsellor of Iran Culture House will also grace the occasion as Guests of Honor. In the words of Mr. Sithanshu Kar, “Quantum jump in digital technology has led to greater democratization in still and motion photography. What differentiates a professional from an amateur today is not so much the equipment as the creative mind behind a photograph.”

Several other prominent personalities from the field of media will attend this event. The event is being held in collaboration with Iran Culture House and is also supported by GraFTII, the alumni body of FTII and Inshorts while Wetv Arabia has joined in as the media partner.
