The International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) has opened applications for the Global Youth Action Fund 2026. The scheme offers grant funding of up to USD 3,000 to support student-led projects that address pressing global and local challenges through action, innovation and collaboration.

Candidates can apply for the fund at www.ibo.org until January 30

The Global Youth Action Fund is open to students enrolled in a secondary school aged 12 to 19 years who have developed projects or initiatives aimed at creating a positive social impact in their communities worldwide, and is designed to empower young people to translate ideas into measurable impact.

Funded initiatives must align with one or more of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and demonstrate the potential to create lasting change in communities, it said.

Selection process and mentorship support

In addition to financial support, selected students will gain access to mentorship and networking opportunities with social entrepreneurs, educators, and youth leaders from around the world, enabling them to strengthen their leadership skills and expand the reach of their projects.

Nicole Bien, chief community partnerships and development officer for the IB said the initiative encourages students to move beyond classrooms and take responsibility for shaping solutions to real-world problems. “The Global Youth Action Fund is about trusting young people to lead with purpose and turn ideas into meaningful action,” Bien said.

An international panel of experts, educators, and youth leaders will review the projects submitted by participants. Selection will be based on the following criteria:

  • Purpose and vision: Addressing meaningful global or local challenges

  • Innovation and creativity: Offering bold and original approaches to change

  • Impact and sustainability: Demonstrating measurable potential for long-term benefit

  • Collaboration and leadership: Engaging others to create shared solutions.
