GRAP IV curbs on Delhi-NCR from Monday; states may close schools, allow work from home

NEW DELHI : The Commission for Air Quality Management in Delhi NCR issues notice regarding the rising pollution in the city to implement the revised schedule of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) IV. As per the notice, all Delhi NCR schools may have to discontinue physical Classes for 6 to 9 and Class 11 to conduct classes in an online mode.
The notice also states that all public, municipal, and private offices are to work on 50% strength, and the rest of the employees are to work from home. Additionally, the central government may have to make appropriate decisions on permitting work from home for all employees in the central government offices.
“NCR state govts and GNC'I'D may take a decision on discontinuing physical classes even for classes VI - IX, class XI and conduct lessons in an online mode. NClt State governments, CNCTD to take a decision on allowing public, municipal, and private offices to work on 50% strength and the rest to work from home.” the official GRAP notification read.
GRAP IV, Delhi NCR: Other emergency measures
Moreover, as per the GRAP IV notice, state governments may also consider additional emergency measures like the closure of colleges and other educational institutions. This may also include the closure of non-emergency commercial activities, permitting the running of vehicles on the odd-even basis of registration numbers, etc.
All citizens are urged to follow the GRAP measures and assist in the implementation of the same towards sustaining and improving the air quality in the Delhi NCR region.
“Children, the elderly, and those with respiratory, cardiovascular, cerebrovascular or other chronic diseases to avoid outdoor activities and stay indoors, as much as possible,” GRAP IV notice reads.
