Australian Griffith University collaborates with IISc to work on Water Science and MAHE to work on health, allied health sciences, and environmental engineering.

NEW DELHI: Griffith University collaborated with Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). The agreement was signed during Griffith University’s delegation visit to India. Griffith University’s collaboration with IISc is to launch a dual postgraduate degree programme to work on water science while the collaboration with MAHE is to focus on launching a jointly supervised doctor of philosophy programme.
The Griffith University’s Australian Rivers Institute and IISc’s Water Solutions Lab collaboration will work on water science. As per the official statement, it will explore the possibility of launching a dual postgraduate degree so that qualified IISc students will obtain degree from IISc and Griffith University. Commenting on this decision, Abhishek Kumar Singh who is chair of IISc international relations office said: "We are extremely happy by our collaborations with Griffith University through various workshops and research projects/exchanges in Climate change.”
The collaboration between Griffith University and MAHE will focus on “heath, allied health sciences, environmental engineering, student exchange and recruitment.” As per the official statement, both institutions will collaborate to launch a jointly supervised doctor of philosophy (PhD) program at Griffith University. This will include selection of two doctoral candidates per year to whom living and tuition stipend will be provided.
Further, Abhinav Bhatia. Senior trade and investment commissioner of south Asia, trade and investment Queensland, where Griffith University is situated, commented on the collaboration that: “These partnerships will further support the strong relationship the two countries have forged with the recent signing of the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA). We at Study Queensland (Queensland Govt, Australia) are supportive and extremely proud of these partnerships.”
