NEW DELHI: The world is celebrating the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to United Nations chief Antonio Guterres wished pay tribute to the Father of the Nation.

President Ram Nath Kovind paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and said, “Homage to Bapu on #GandhiJayanti . It is a special day for all Indians to remember Gandhiji's struggles and sacrifice. Let us take a pledge that we will continue to strive for making India a country of Gandhiji's dreams while adhering to his teachings, ideals and values.”

Prime Minister Modi said, “I bow to respected Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti. His noble principles are globally relevant and give strength to millions.”

PM Modi also paid tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri ji on his birth anniversary. “His life based on values and principles will always remain a source of inspiration for the countrymen,” he said.

United Nations chief Antonio Guterres urged people to heed Mahatma Gandhi;s message of peace, and commit to building a better future for all. He said in a tweet, “Hatred, division and conflict have had their day. It is time to usher in a new era of peace, trust and tolerance. On this International Day of Non-Violence - Gandhi's birthday - let's heed his message of peace, and commit to building a better future for all.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “I bow to Pujya Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti. A towering personality blessed with tremendous willpower and immense wisdom, he provided exemplary leadership to India’s freedom movement.”

Extending tribute to Gandhi ji, he said, “Let us rededicate ourselves to ‘Swachchta and Atmanirbharbharta’ on his jayanti.”
