Haryana schools reopen for Classes 1 to 9 today
Haryana education minister Kanwar Pal had said strict COVID-19 measures will be followed in classes and online classes will continue.

NEW DELHI: Haryana schools for Classes 1 to 9 reopened today, February 10 with COVID-19 protocols in place. The Haryana education minister Kanwar Pal announced on February 8 that schools will reopen for Classes 1 to 9 from February 10. Strict COVID-19 measures will be followed in the classrooms and online classes will continue to be held, he said.
The minister had tweeted: “In #Haryana schools will be opened for classes 1 to 9 from February 10. COVID-19 appropriate behavior will be strictly followed in the classrooms. Parents who want to send their children to school can send them. Online classes will also continue.”

Schools for Classes 10, 11 and 12 have already reopened in the state since February 1. On January 27, the state government decided to reopen schools for vaccinated students of Classes 10 to 12. The Haryana education department issued orders to resume offline classes for students from Class 10 to 12.
According to the Haryana school reopening guidelines, only those students who have received at least the first dose of Covid vaccination were able to attend physical classes. The schools needed to ensure that COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines were strictly followed on the premises.

Earlier in January, Pal said that the government is planning to reopen schools with 33% capacity on different days. However, the education minister did not mention the number of days schools will function in a week or with what capacity.
Schools, colleges and other educational institutions were shut in Haryana till January 26 owing to the rise in COVID-19, Omicron cases in India. Schools, colleges also resumed online classes for students.
