HPE to set up Centre of Excellence to boost agricultural productivity

NEW DELHI, JULY 27: Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is setting up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh to train underprivileged students in computer programming and IoT (Internet of Things) in the field of agriculture.
The primary objective of this undertaking is to help the students access technological solutions to the challenges in the agriculture sector and find innovative ways to achieve higher food production from small agricultural lands.
Under the guidance of IoT experts from HPE, the students will have the opportunity to work with soil fertility experts on agriculture-related projects. The training is also expected to boost the students’ employment prospects.
The company will set up the CoE in collaboration with Agastya International Foundation, an Indian education trust based in Bangalore.
Speaking about the project Founder and Chairman of Agastya International Foundation Ramji Raghavan said, “Food security is amongst the most critical issues facing society today, making it crucial for industry, technology, academia and government to come together and solve such global challenges.”
Throughout the programme, students from engineering and computer science background will be trained in computer programming and IoT that drive the latest technological innovations in the field of agriculture.
