IBPS SO 2018 notification released for 1599 vacancies; registration to begin from November 6

New Delhi, October 26: Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the notification for IBPS Specialist Officers (SO) 2018, on October 26. As per the notification of IBPS SO 2018, the examination authority has announced as many as 1599 vacancies for six different specialist profiles. Aspiring candidates can fill in the IBPS SO application form 2018 for the examination in online mode from November 6 to 26.

According to the notification, the maximum number of vacancies (853) are announced for Agricultural Field Officer (Scale-I), followed by 302 for Marketing Officer (Scale-I), 219 for IT Officer (Scale-I), 81 for HR/Personnel Officer (Scale-I), 75 for Law Officer (Scale-I), and 69 for Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale-I).

It must be noted that the total number of vacancies announced this year (1599 ) has gone up by 248 as compared to the last year, where the number of vacancies for IBPS SO were 1351.

Earlier, the examination authority had announced the dates for the preliminary and mains exam, however, the dates for registration and rest of the details were not released. With the availability of the notification now, candidates can check all details related to the IBPS SO eligibility criteria, application form, exam, etc.

IBPS SO 2018 will be held in three phases – Prelims, Mains and Interview. The Preliminary examination of IBPS SO 2018 will be held on December 29 and 30, in online mode, while the Mains examination will be conducted on January 27, 2019. The dates for the interview have not been declared yet, however, it will certainly be conducted in February 2019.

IBPS SO examination is held every year for recruiting Specialist Officers in 6 different fields across the participating Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). Candidates who qualify the Preliminary exam are shortlisted for appearing in the mains exam, while the qualifying candidates of Mains are filtered for appearing in the Interview. However, all the candidates are not shortlisted. The shortlisting of the candidates in each stage is done as per the capping imposed by IBPS for a particular stage.
