ICAI appoints Charanjot Singh Nanda president, Prasanna Kumar D vice president

The 26th council of ICAI elects new president and vice president for the term 2025-26.
NEW DELHI : The 26th Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) elects Charanjot Singh Nanda as the new president and Prasanna Kumar D as vice-president for the term 2025-26.
Charanjot Singh Nanda has been a practicing chartered accountant (CA) for the last 34 years since 1991. He attained his bachelor of commerce degree from MLN College in 1987 and consistently secured position on merit at Kurukshetra University. Additionally, he secured 35th rank in the CA Inter Exam and attained his CA qualification in 1991.
Prasanna Kumar D holds a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Loyola College, Chennai, and a master’s in sociology from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. He secured a rank in the CA Inter Exam and completed his CA in 1984.
The oath of office was administered by Arjun Ram Meghwal, the minister of state (I/C) for law and justice and parliamentary affairs. He congratulated the newly elected president and vice president and said: “I am confident that under your able leadership, India will move closer to realizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji to become the world's third-largest economy.”

ICAI’s new torch bearers for 2025-26
Charanjot Singh Nanda was elected as the chairman of the Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) of ICAI during 2002-2003. He was then elected to the central council of ICAI in 2004 and has already served six terms.
During the year 2024-25, he was elected as vice president and then, during his 7th term as central council member, for the year 2025-26, he became the 73rd president of ICAI.
“Throughout his illustrious professional career, he has been the chairman of many committees and garnered notable achievements. With the vision to build the thought leadership of Internal Audit, he served as the Chairman of the Internal Audit Standards Board for several years,” the official ICAI statement said.
Being a member of ICAI with over three decades of experience, Kumar D was elected to the Central Council of ICAI for three consecutive terms in the 24th, 25th, and 26th councils playing a major role in guiding ICAI’s direction.
