ICAI CA July 2020- Last Date extended for opt-out facility

NEW DELHI: The Institute of Chartered Accountancy has extended the last date to opt-out from CA July 2020 exams. Earlier, ICAI had announced that students will have the facility of opting out from the CA July 2020 session and appear for November exams. The decision was taken considering the current coronavirus pandemic spread in the country.
The extended last date for CA July 2020 exam opt-out facility is June 30. The official notification reads “In view of feedback received from the students who have already submitted online examination application for May 2020 Examination, it is decided that the request of students for allowance of some more time for exercising the Opt-Out option be extended till 30th June 2020 (Tuesday) upto 11.59 PM.
Therefore, students who at their own will decide of availing “Opt Out” option and wish to carry forward their candidature to next examination i.e. November, 2020 examination cycle may apply for opt out option &submit a declaration online available at https://icaiexam.icai.org latest by 30th June 2020 (Tuesday) upto 11.59 PM”.
A petition regarding CA July 2020 exams has also been filed in the Supreme court seeking stay on the opt-out facility and increase in exam centres. ICAI after considering the current situation had decided that they will provide students an option to opt out from the July 2020 session due to coronavirus pandemic. In order to opt out from the July 2020 session, students will have to submit a declaration on the official website of ICAI.
ICAI has also stated that the opt-out option once selected by a student cannot be changed later and will be treated as final. No changes will be entertained in any circumstances.
