ICSI elects Dhananjay Shukla as president; Pawan G Chandak named vice president

New ICSI president has expertise in corporate law, securities law, and taxation.
NEW DELHI: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has elected Dhananjay Shukla as its president and Pawan G Chandak as the vice-president. Shukla has expertise in the areas of corporate law, securities law and taxation.
A commerce and a law graduate, the new ICSI president is a fellow member of the ICSI . He has been serving the institute in different positions for the last several years. He held the position of VP of the ICSI for the year 2024.
Before that, he was elected to the Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) of the ICSI for the term 2011-14 and then re-elected again for the term 2015-18. He served as the chairman of the northern-region in the year 2017 and served in various other capacities during his tenure at NIRC. He also served as a member of the Secretarial Standards Board (SSB) of the ICSI for the years 2019 and 2020.
Having more than 20 years of experience as a corporate professional, Shukla has worked as company secretary in large corporate groups before switching to practising in the year 2009. He has played a crucial role in various start-up ventures set up in India by foreign promoters.

Chandak is a qualified company secretary with a specialisation in labour laws and labour welfare. He is the founder partner of KPRC & Associates, with varied experience in the fields of corporate laws , foreign exchange laws, industrial laws, legal metrology, secretarial audits, arbitration matters, SEZ, STPI, EOUs and DOT.
The VP has worked with large corporate houses and multi-national companies in the capacity of independent director and advisor and has a deep understanding of the challenges and issues surrounding his areas of expertise which includes handling and advising on corporate legal matters, deal structuring and merger-amalgamations.
Prior being elected to the central council of ICSI for the term 2023-2026, he was elected to the Western India Regional Council (WIRC) of ICSI for the term 2019-2022 and served as secretary of the region in 2019, vice-chairman in 2020 and chairman of WIRC ICSI in the year 2021. Before that, he served as the chairman of the Pune Chapter of WIRC of ICSI in 2012 and 2017.
Pawan G Chandak has a proven track record of over 20 years in guiding organizations in corporate and allied laws, managing risks, rolling-out new systems and improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.
