ICT’s new centre to support India’s 100 GW nuclear target with cutting-edge research and academic-industry collaboration
MUMBAI: The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, has unveiled its new centre for Energy Science and Technology. The launch took place during a high-level conclave on Industry-Academia Partnership for nuclear science and technology development held at ICT’s KV Auditorium.
Bridging academia and industry
The announcement follows the central government’s recent budget, which allocated Rs 20,000 crore for nuclear R&D and set an ambitious target of 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047. ICT’s new centre is positioned to be a national hub for advanced research, innovation, and talent development in nuclear energy.
“The academic community, in its pursuit of independent and original thought, plays a crucial role in shaping national policy,” said Dr Kakodkar, chancellor, Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI). “ICT’s leadership in advancing nuclear energy research is both timely and commendable.”
