IGNOU introduces MA programme in Folklore and Culture Studies from January 2021 session.

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU) School of Interdisciplinary and Trans-Disciplinary Studies has launched a new programme called Master of Arts in Folklore and Culture Studies (MAFCS) from January 2021 session. As per the IGNOU officials, the programme is offered through open distance learning (ODL) mode.
According to the IGNOU officials, MA in Folklore and Culture Studies primarily focuses on time, geography, space and literature of the folklore and culture of the world in general, and of India in particular. The programme aims to find out the relation between folk culture and context through various information borrowed from disciplines such as Literature, History, Sociology, Anthropology, Folklore Studies and Culture Studies.
This is an interdisciplinary programme which consists of knowledge from various fields. IGNOU already offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Folklore and Culture Studies (PGDFCS) through Open Distance Learning.
To be eligible for MA in Folklore and Culture Studies, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. There is no minimum percentage set by the university for candidates to be eligible for admission.
The duration of MA in Folklore and Culture Studies is 2 years and the medium of language will be English. The one year academic fee of MA in Folklore and Culture Studies is Rs 5,400 and the registration fee is of Rs 200.
