Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a new Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme in Hindi and Odia. The move from the university promotes multilingual education and aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The MBA course in Odia and Hindi will boost participation from non-English-speaking background students and aims to remove linguistic hurdles in professional education, as per the official statement by IGNOU.
Uma Kanjilal, vice chancellor of IGNOU, said that the MBA programme in Hindi and Odia will ensure that no students will be left behind and confirmed that the university has planned to launch the MBA course in 10 more regional languages.
Abhay Jere, vice chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), emphasises on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in removing language barriers in education, said: “Tools like Anuvadini are helping make education “borderless” by enabling real-time, large-scale content localisation.”

Anivadini is an AI-powered translation tool, which translates academic resources to regional languages for non-English speaking students.
The development by the IGNOU is part of the E-Kumbh project, a national collaboration between IGNOU and the AICTE. The MBA course in Hindi and Odia will help students understand complex business concepts in their mother tongue, the university said.
Last month, the IGNOU launched project Udaan, an AI-powered translation tool, with collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay). The project will help in delivering the translation of academic and technical content into Indian languages.
