IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing registration opens; nurses, midwives eligible

IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing Registration: Application form available until March 5 for in-service nurses seeking to advance their professional qualifications and deepen their clinical expertise.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has opened the registration portal for admission to its Post Basic BSc Nursing programme for the January 2026 session. Eligible candidates can apply for the IGNOU’s Post Basic BSc Nursing course through the official website at ignounursing.samarth.edu.in.
The university will close the registration portal for IGNOU admissions on March 5, 2026.
Candidates looking forward applying for the Post Basic BSc Nursing course must be a registered nurses and midwives (RNRM) who meet either of the following criteria:
- Completion of Class 12 along with a three-year diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), and a minimum of two years of work experience after registration.
- Class 10 passing certificate along with a three-year GNM diploma, and at least five years of professional experience after RNRM registration.
“For male nurses without midwifery training in the GNM programme, eligibility can be met with an approved nursing course certificate of 6–9 months duration as prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council,” according to official notification.
The post basic BSc nursing programme is designed for in-service nurses seeking to advance their professional qualifications and deepen their clinical expertise.

Candidates can check the registration process for the IGNOU’s Post Basic BSc Nursing course from below.
- Go to the official website at ignounursing.samarth.edu.in.
- On the homepage, click on “new registration” and fill the required field with valid contact, academic details.
- Upon registration, candidates will receive their username and password via email and SMS to access the application form.
- Log in with the credentials to complete the online application.
- Upload relevant documents such as passport-size photo, signature, certificates.
- Pay the application fee through secure payment options.
- Download and print the completed application form.
- Save it for counselling and final admission formalities.
