IIM Ahmedabad PGP 2024-26: The new batch comprises 29% freshers and 71% experienced candidates.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) greeted 451 students yesterday, June 20, as they joined the batch of 2024-2026 for two of its management education programmes. According to the official press release, the 61st batch of the two-year full-time post graduate programme in management (PGP) includes 404 students
As per the official IIM Ahmedabad statement, the 25th batch of the two-year full-time post graduate programme in food and agribusiness management (PGP-FABM) consists of 47 students, all hailing from various regions and backgrounds across the country.
In the IIM Ahmedabad’s PGP batch of 2024-26, approximately 25 percent of the 404 students are women, an increase from around 23 percent last year. Additionally, about 39 percent of the class comes from non-engineering backgrounds, while 61 percent have engineering backgrounds.
Additionally, the new batch includes 29 percent freshers and approximately 71 percent experienced candidates, according to a statement by IIM-A. The students have work experience in consulting, banking and financial services, public sector units, pharmaceuticals/healthcare, and information technology sectors.
Furthermore, the PGP-FABM batch consists of 47 students, with around 36 percent being women. All 47 students come from food and agribusiness backgrounds.
While the average age of students in both programmes is still 23, the average work experience has risen to 26 months for the PGP programme and 27 months for the PGP-FABM programme, up from 21 months and 19 months, respectively, the previous year.
The inaugural event took place on campus with the presence of Bharat Bhasker, director of IIMA; Diptesh Ghosh, dean of programmes; Ankur Sinha, chairperson of PGP; Vineet Virmani, chairperson of PGP-FABM; Karthik Sriram, chairperson of admissions; Viswanath Pingali, chairperson of placements; Naman Desai, chairperson of the student housing, activities, and welfare committee; Rajat Sharma, chairperson of the sports and recreation activities committee (SARA); Atman Soni, general secretary of the student affairs council; along with other faculty and staff members to welcome and interact with the new students.
Delivering the welcome address, Diptesh Ghosh, dean (Programmes), IIMA, said, “The PGP and PGP-FABM are among the oldest and top-rated MBA programmes in the country, and they have been tailored from time to time to transform you as some of the best management leaders. For the same reason, they are also extremely demanding and competitive so that you learn to deal with new subjects and challenges of your professional journey without getting affected.
