IIM Bangalore, Karnataka Govt to offer entrepreneurship training for SC, ST women graduates

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore's Executive Education Programmes (EEPs) is offering an entrepreneurship training certificate programme for women graduates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities by collaborating with the Karnataka state government. The first batch of the IIMB training programme will start on August 16, 2022, the institute said in a statement. Interested candidates can apply at sw.kar.nic.in.

The objective of the programme developed by IIM Bangalore is to help existing entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. Women from Karnataka, who holds a degree in any subject and are below the age of 45 years, and belong to the SC or ST category are eligible to apply for the IIM Bangalore entrepreneurship training programme, which is sponsored by the Karnataka government. An online aptitude test will be conducted by the institute to select the candidates. Based on the test results, 300 candidates will be selected for the IIM Bangalore certificate programme.

The duration of the IIMB certificate programme is five to six months. The classes will be conducted in a hybrid mode that includes in-person on-campus sessions, and live, online sessions. IIM Bangalore will facilitate boarding and lodging during the on-campus training. The programme will be delivered in the English language. The state government will also give a stipend to the candidates for travel expenses based on the attendance of the trainees.

The government intends to provide training to 200 SC candidates and 100 ST candidates. Four batches of 75 participants each will be formed. The programme is sponsored for the selected 300 candidates by the social welfare department and the ST welfare department of the Karnataka government.
