IIM Bodh Gaya hosts first healthcare leadership summit ‘Convergence 2024’

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya (IIM Bodhgaya) hosted its first healthcare leadership summit ‘CONVERGENCE’ that centered around the future of integrated care services in India. The two-day event aimed at fostering discussion on healthcare delivery through integrated care by introducing innovative solutions for the future of healthcare, the official IIM Bodh Gaya statement said.

Vinita Sahay the director of IIM Bodh Gaya inaugurated the conclave. In her address, Vinita signified the need for a better healthcare ecosystem in India and how IIM Bodh Gaya supports the cause through its MBA hospital and healthcare management programme. She further emphasized the collaboration between academia and industry to nurture future healthcare leaders.

Swapnarag Swain chairperson of MBA hospital and healthcare management at IIM Bodh Gaya started the event by presenting the MBA-HHM programme to the industry experts. The leaders appreciated the programme’s curriculum and its unique approach to bring industry to the MBA-HHM classroom, adds IIM Bodh Gaya statement.

IIM Bodhgaya Convergence 2024: Panel discussions

The summit witnessed three panel discussions which included senior leaders from the healthcare industry. The leaders shared their key insights on how multiple stakeholders such as hospitals, pharma and life sciences, medtech, health insurance, and medical devices can collaborate to provide better patient-centric healthcare services, the IIM Bodhgaya statement adds.

1st Panel Discussion

The first-panel discussion revolved around IT innovations and medical technology supporting integrated care. The members of the panel included – Rana Mehta, senior partner and leader for healthcare at PwC; Nitin Barekere Ramachandra, vice-president, global HR at Omega Healthcare; Gaurav Mundra, vice-president, of product management at IKS Health; Vikram Pawar, country head, Taiwan at Meril; Chhitiz Kumar, the founder of TDR

Enterprises and former vice president of Philips Health Systems.

As per the IIM Bodhgaya statement, Nitin BR said that the wellness industry is rapidly evolving, with software solutions like chatbots have opened up new opportunities for innovation. Gaurav Mundra further emphasized bringing together the right stakeholders from educational institutions citing IIM Bodhgaya as an example.

2nd Panel Discussion

The second panel members gave insights on transforming hospitals and insurance models for integrated care.

“The speakers noted that as the industry shifts from high-touch to high-tech, affordability and efficiency must remain priorities, alongside necessary policy adjustments to create a cohesive healthcare ecosystem, the IIM Bodhgata statement added.

The members of the second panel discussion included – Ranjan Pandey, CHRO at Fortis Hospitals, Gaurav Tripathi, senior vice-president, health management at Aditya Birla Health Insurance; Prem Anand K, lead talent acquisition for India at Narayana Health; and Sumeet Sharda, senior vice-president at HDFC ERGO general insurance company limited.

3rd Panel Discussion

The third panel focused on the role of pharmaceuticals and life sciences in integrated care. The members of the discussion included– Saji Daniel Mathew, vice president, of institutional Business at Agappe Diagnostics, and Salil Pandey, vice president, and cluster head at Sun Pharma.

The summit underscored IIM Bodh Gaya's commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry, preparing future leaders for the dynamic world of healthcare management, and nurturing an environment where healthcare innovation thrives. The institute remains at the forefront of shaping the future of healthcare through cross- disciplinary dialogue and actionable insights, the IIM Bodhgaya note added.
