NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur is going to establish its first satellite campus in Pune and it is expected to be set up by the end of the year, according to a report in The Indian Express.
The first IIM to be established in the city will be located at the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), Pune.
IIM Nagpur, CIRT signed an agreement, targeting competency-building programmes for all stakeholders from road transport and industry in June, the report said.
The B-school plans to launch its first MBA programme for the Pune campus in December this year, Bhimaraya Metri, director of IIM-Nagpur, said during the formal launch of the campus in the city on Tuesday.
The two-year executive MBA programme will be exclusive for working professionals from various fields. The eligibility criteria for this programme requires an experience of minimum three years and above 50% marks in graduation.
“We plan to have in-person classes for working professionals of Pune during weekends. The aim is to offer continuous learning and upskilling opportunities to professionals,” Bhimaraya Metri, director of IIM-Nagpur told Indian Express.
While conducting a survey on courses to be offered at the B-school, it was discovered that in addition to leadership qualities companies need a more talented and skilled workforce.
Chairman of IIM-Nagpur and MD and CEO of Tech Mahindra, C P Gurnani told Indian Express: “As Pune is among the top five IT hubs of India and an automobile hub as well, IIM-Nagpur hopes to get very good industry partnership from the city’s companies and industries. The idea is to link transport management with the supply chain using tools like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and other latest technologies.”
