IIM Shillong, NIFT collaborate to promote professional growth in design, management

Under the agreement, IIM Shillong and NIFT Shillong will offer student exchange programmes, mentorship, PhD supervision, workshops, seminars etc.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong signed an agreement with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Shillong to promote professional growth both at the national and international levels in design and management, besides promoting cross-disciplinary learning as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 objectives.
The agreement with an initial tenure of three years was signed on behalf of NIFT Shillong and IIM Shillong by Professor D P Goyal, Director IIM Shillong and Arindam Das, Director of NIFT Shillong.

The major areas of collaboration, knowledge sharing and joint activity cover student exchange programmes, joint field trips, faculty training, mentorship, PhD supervision, joint research and publications, collaboration with foreign experts, and participation in workshops, seminars, and conferences, as per an official statement from IIM Shillong.
Arindam Das, Director of NIFT Shillong, while terming the agreement historic, stated that it opened up various possibilities of collaborations for mutual benefit.
Recently, IIM Shillong held its 13th convocation at its new campus at Umsawli, Shillong. The convocation ceremony was held at the campus after a gap of two years due to the pandemic. Devi Prasad Shetty, founder and chairman of Narayana Health was the chief guest on the occasion.
This year, a total of 268 students graduated from IIM Shillong. Degrees were conferred upon 252 PGP students and 16 PGPEx students while two scholars were conferred with their PhD degree. Hardik Goyal from the batch of PGP 2022 and Shikha from the batch of PGPEX 2022 was awarded chairman’s gold medal. Rathindra Nath Datta Gold Medal for securing the highest CGPA was awarded to Hardik Goyal from the batch of PGP 2022.

Sanchit Chandna was awarded the Institute Silver Medal for securing the second highest CGPA. The Director’s Gold Medal for the best all-rounder was shared by Abhishek Khurana from PGP 2022 and Nisarg Shrivats from PGPEX2022. The Institute Gold Medal for Positive Contribution to Campus Life was awarded to Pranav Agarwal from PGP2022.
