IISc Admissions 2025: MTech, MDes cut-offs out; higher GATE score for AI, electrical engineering

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has issued the cut-offs for admissions to the Master of Technology (MTech) and Master of Design (MDes) programmes for the 2025-26 academic session. MTech aspirants who applied through GATE should update their Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) ID on or before April 17, 2025.
The institute has set cut-off scores for various departments and disciplines based on different entrance exams, including the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Common Admission Test (CAT), and Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED). The last date to register for admission to MTech programmes at IISc was March 25.
IISc Admissions 2025: Deadline for communication
The IISc Bangalore has informed that candidates who have cleared the specified cut-off but have not received any communication regarding the offline interview or written test, must contact the admission office. Candidates will have to send an email to admission.acad@iisc.ac.in by April 4, 2025, 5 pm, along with their application form and relevant entrance exam scorecard, such as GATE , CEED, or CAT.
“Applicants who applied for M.Tech/ M.Des programmes, and has cleared the cut-off as indicated, and has not received a call letter/email communication/communication on applicant interface of admission portal for offline interview/ written test (as applicable), may send an e-mail to admission office at admission.acad@iisc.ac.in on or before 4th April 2025,” the official notice said.
For the MTech in Artificial Intelligence (AI) programme, the GATE cut-off for the general category in computer science is 861, while it is 830 for OBC and 820 for EWS candidates. For SC and ST categories, the scores are 735 and 530, respectively. The GATE cut-off has been determined based on scores out of 1,000.
