Try NowThe Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) have announced the dates for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT 2026). IISERs will hold IAT 2026 on June 7 for admission to BS, BS-MS dual degree, and BTech programmes across IISER campuses.
Eligible candidates can apply for IISER 2026 on the official website, admissions.iisc.ac.in, once the registration facility opens on March 5.
The government of India has established the IISERs at seven cities, including Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, and Tirupati, to promote science education and research. The list of undergraduate courses offered at IISERs is as follows.
- 4-year BS in Economics Sciences at IISER Bhopal
- 4-year BS in Economic and Statistical Sciences at IISER Tirupati
- 4-year BTech in Engineering Science at IISER Bhopal
- 4-year BTech in Data Science & Engineering at IISER Bhopal
- 5-year BS-MS at all IISERs
- 5-year BS-MS in Computational and Data Sciences at IISER Kolkata
- 5-year BS-MS in Geology at IISER Mohali
- 5-year BS-MS in Environmental Sciences at IISER Mohali

IISER IAT 2026: Application fees
The application fee to apply for IISER IAT 2026 is as follows.
- Candidates applying under the General, EWS, OBC, and OBC-NCL categories have to pay Rs 2,000
- For candidates applying under persons with disabilities (PwD), persons registered as Kashmiri Migrants, Pandits, Hindu Families (Non-Migrant) and SC or ST category have to pay Rs 1,000
- For candidates applying under the Foreign National category is Rs 12,000
IISER Aptitude Test Exam Pattern 2026
IAT 2026 will be held in computer-based test (CBT) mode, with 60 questions, 15 each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. The total duration of the test will be 180 minutes. Candidates will be given MCQs to answer in the aptitude test, comprising 240 marks. The marking scheme is as follows.
- Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks
- Each incorrect answer will lead to the deduction of 1 mark
- Unanswered questions will be awarded 0 marks
Candidates must note total marks obtained by a candidate out of 240 will be considered for preparing the IISER IAT rank list . Not every candidate appearing in IAT 2026 will be awarded a rank. Also, getting a rank does not guarantee admission to an IISER.
