IIT Bombay launches Master in Development Practice programme

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has introduced a new academic programme titled ‘Master in Development Practice’ designed for professionals for the July 2022 session. The duration of the course is one year, and the programme will be held in online and interactive mode, with some in-person modules. Interested candidates can apply for the course till June 19 on IIT Bombay website -- portal.iitb.ac.in.

The Master in Development Practice is being launched by IIT Bombay's Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas (CTARA). After submitting the application, candidates will have to undergo selection test and interview on July 1 and 2. The result will be announced on July 8, and the course is likely to start from the last week of July.

IIT Bombay Master in Development Practice: Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply for the IIT Bombay Master in Development Practice programme, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

• Candidates should be professionals with a minimum four-year degree in engineering, technology, planning, and architecture or
• The applicant must be a professional with a master’s degree in physical sciences.
• Applicant should have a total cumulative work experience of at least 24 months in the development sector.
• Candidates are required to submit a certificate of experience to get admission.
• Employed candidates should submit a NOC from the employers.

IIT Bombay will charge a fee amounting to Rs 3,00,000 for the Master in Development Practice programme which can be paid in two instalments. The last date to pay the fee is by July 15. IIT Bombay will not provide any financial support or hostel accommodation for the students of this programme and they will not be eligible for the placement programme of IIT Bombay.

The classes will be held for the courses in the evenings and on weekends. The coursework will go on for two semesters of 14 weeks each and a summer term of about six weeks.
