The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has introduced a new industry membership program aimed at building stronger and more long-term partnerships with companies across sectors. Through this initiative, the institute plans to encourage closer collaboration between industry and academia in areas such as research, innovation, training, and technology development.

The program, which will be managed by IIT Delhi’s corporate relations office, is designed as a structured engagement model for organisations looking to work more closely with the institute. Officials said the initiative will help companies connect with faculty members, participate in thematic research projects, and gain access to institutional facilities including research labs and library resources.

The membership program will also create opportunities for customised training programmes and industry-focused innovation initiatives. Member organisations will additionally get early access to patents, research outputs, and technologies developed at IIT Delhi.

IIT Delhi introduces different membership categories

To make the program accessible to organisations of different scales, IIT Delhi has introduced three membership tiers: silver, gold, and platinum. The annual membership fee has been set at Rs 10 lakh for silver, Rs 20 lakh for gold, and Rs 50 lakh for platinum membership.

These memberships are intended to support collaboration in research, innovation, talent development, and institutional initiatives. Companies joining the program will also receive dedicated relationship support and opportunities to jointly develop long-term research agendas with IIT Delhi faculty and researchers.

Program will strengthen industry-academia engagement

As part of the initiative, participating organisations will be able to engage through CXO roundtables, leadership forums, CSR conclaves, and other curated industry interaction platforms. IIT Delhi believes these engagements will help create stronger partnerships and encourage knowledge exchange between industry leaders and academia.

Speaking about the initiative, dean of corporate relations, IIT Delhi Jayant Jain said, “We believe this initiative will create a strong platform for sustained industry–academia engagement, enabling meaningful research collaborations, innovation-driven partnerships, and greater participation from leading organizations across sectors.”

“The program also aligns with India’s growing focus on strengthening indigenous research, innovation, and industry-led R&D to support the nation’s vision of becoming a global knowledge and technology powerhouse,” he added.
