IIT Gandhinagar to award 456 degrees during its 12th convocation on July 29

The IIT Gandhinagar will award digital degrees, mark sheets and medal certificates for the first time.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Gandhinagar, will award degrees to 456 students during its 12th Convocation on July 29. Founder of Cyient BVR Mohan Reddy will be the chief guest on the occasion.
The IIT Gandhinagar will award digital degrees, marksheets and medal certificates in USB drives so that they can access them from anywhere. This is the first time that the institute will award verifiable and tamper-proof digital documents.

The degrees will have the digital signatures of the chairman of board of governors, the registrar and the director of the IIT Gandhinagar. Any attempt to change any detail on the document will make the signatures invalid.
The institute will upload these digital degrees into students’ DigiLocker and they will be able to access and download them in PDF format using their Aadhaar number for administrative use, such as verification for various applications.
The event will begin with an academic procession, followed by a report by the IIT Gandhinagar director. The students will be awarded the degrees, following which the chairman of the IIT Gandhinagar board of governors will address the audience. The students will then be presented with medals and the Institute Fellow Awards. The event will end with an address by the chief guest.
BVR Mohan Reddy has also served as the chairman of National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) and chairman of CII-Southern Region. He is also the founding director of T-Hub, India's largest start-up incubation centre. He is the chairman of the board of governors of IIT Hyderabad and IIT Roorkee.
