IIT Guwahati strengthens international collaboration with universities in Canada, Japan

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with international educational institutions from Canada and Japan. All MoUs have been signed for a period of 5 years and that can be further extended based on mutual understanding.
An agreement has been signed with the Dalhousie University, Canada to establish Joint Doctoral Program. The goal of this programme is to encourage active research partnerships between academics and students from the two universities.
"Through the provision of student and faculty exchange programmes, collaborative research initiatives, and the exchange of research materials, this collaboration seeks to establish a rich academic environment that is supportive of innovative discoveries and high calibre academic work", the official statement read.
Agreement for International Joint PhD program
Additionally, three MoUs have been signed with Gifu University, Japan, for International Joint PhD programme. IIT Guwahati has established an ‘International Joint PhD Program’ in collaboration with Gifu University, spanning a standard duration of three years.

The program entails a collaborative course design by both universities, offering students a comprehensive educational experience. Research progress will be evaluated by a multidisciplinary team of experts from both universities, ensuring rigorous academic standards and fostering innovative research outcomes.
The two institutes have come to an agreement for a two-year "International Masters Joint Degree Programme in Food Science and Technology." Under the joint direction of Gifu University and IIT Guwahati, this programme will help enrolled students with their coursework and dissertation evaluation.
As part of the Inter-University Exchange Project (IUEP), Gifu University and IIT Guwahati have further collaborated to establish the "Glocal Expert Programme," an international joint-certificate programme. Through this programme, students exchange can get certified by both universities, promoting cross-cultural learning and strengthening global competences.
