IIT Kanpur to host Youth20 consultation on April 5,6

Over 1,200 youth delegates will be attending the Y20 consultation at IIT Kanpur on April 5 and 6. The consultation will be deliberating on pressing global issues.
NEW DELHI: The India Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) will be hosting the Youth20 (Y20) consultation under G20 presidency of India on April 5 and 6, 2023. Over 1,200 youth delegates across India will be attending the event. IIT Guwahati held the Y20 summit where over 250 international delegates attended the event from February 6 to 8, 2023.
Out of the five core themes, the Y20 consultation at IITK will be catering to two themes- “Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation, and 21st Century Skills” and “Health, Well-being and Sports: Agenda for Youth”. Uttar Pradesh additional chief secretary for sports Navneet Sehgal has been invited as the chief guest and is likely to address the participants on April 6, 2023.

In addition to the panel discussions, an exhibition with over 50 stalls that will showcase science, education and tech stalls from Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur will be orgainsed. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Kanpur commissioner Raj Shekar. Following this, a cultural evening with Hindustani and carnatic music is organised.
The Y20 consultation, under the aegis of ministry of youth affairs and sports, is a pan-India activity in the run up to the final Y20 Summit that will be held in Varanasi. The discussions from the consultation aims to bring young people together to connect, share ideas and experiences, and deliberate on finding solutions to pressing global concerns.
While speaking about the event, IIT Kanpur director Abhay Karandikar, said: “It is a matter of pride for every Indian that India has assumed the G20 Presidency. Under its aegis, the Youth20 Consultation is an important event that would bring youth from the G20 countries together to discuss, ideate and suggest solutions to build a better tomorrow. We are glad to be hosting one of the Y20 Consultations on two core themes. As an institute, IIT Kanpur has been spearheading research and development across these crucial domains to empower youth and society, for long. I hope the fruitful debates and discussions from the Consultation would contribute significantly to the larger Y20 Summit.”
