IIT Kanpur extends application deadline for online MTech, MSc programmes; apply by July 1

Candidates can apply for the IIT Kanpur online entrance test through online.iitk.ac.in till July 1, while entrance test-exempt candidates can apply till July 10
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has extended the application deadlines for its online MTech, MSc, and PG Diploma programmes for the September 2026 academic session. According to the schedule, candidates who applied for the IIT Kanpur online entrance test can now submit their IIT Kanpur PG admission form by July 1, 2026, at online.iitk.ac.in.
Candidates who are exempted from taking the entrance test can apply for the IIT Kanpur PG admission till July 10, 2026. The institute said the decision was taken in response to the strong interest received from learners across the country.
The institute offers online postgraduate programmes for fresh graduates and working professionals who want to improve their skills and grow their careers in technology and management.
IIT Kanpur PG Admission 2026: Eligibility, fees
Candidates with a relevant bachelor's degree and at least 55% marks can apply for IIT Kanpur MTech admission 2026. Admission is based on the IIT Kanpur Online Entrance Test or a valid GATE , CEED, CAT, JAM , GRE, or GMAT score. Eligible candidates may be exempted from the entrance test.
To apply for IIT Kanpur's online MTech, MSc, and PG Diploma programmes, candidates will have to pay the application fee of Rs 5,000 (non-refundable) online.
The programmes offered for the September 2026 batch include:
- MTech (Online) in RF Engineering
- MTech (Online) in Smart Grid Technology
- MTech (Online) in Microelectronics and VLSI
- MTech (Online) in Sustainable Energy Technologies
- MTech (Online) in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- MTech (Online) in Wireless Networks and Machine Learning (Win-ML)
- MTech (Online) in Construction Engineering and Project Management
IIT Kanpur is also offering an MSc (Online) in Economics and Data Analytics and a PG Diploma (Online) in Cyber Security.

Follow the process below to apply for the MTech, MSc, and PG diploma admissions at IIT Kanpur .
- Visit the official IIT Kanpur website, online.iitk.ac.in.
- Select the online postgraduate programme you want to apply for.
- Register using your email ID and mobile number.
- Fill in the IIT Kanpur PG application form with the required personal and academic details.
- Upload the necessary documents.
- Pay the non-refundable application fee.
- Review the details and submit the application form.
- Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.
The programmes follow the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and offer flexible entry and exit options. Students can earn a degree, diploma, or certificate and complete the programme in two to four years. Classes are held on weekends to help working professionals attend them easily.
