Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur: Candidates who are exempted from taking the online PG admission entrance exam can apply by December 2. Application fee is Rs 15,000.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur will close the online registrations for IIT Kanpur’s online PG admissions 2026 today, November 16. Candidates who are exempted from taking the PG entrance test for admissions can apply till December 2.
The application fee for IIT Kanpur’s online PG programmes is Rs 15,000. If admission is not offered by IIT Kanpur, the refundable application fee is Rs 10,000. Candidates can apply for online PG admissions on the official website, online.iitk.ac.in.
“Built on six decades of academic excellence, these programs maintain the same content, structure, and evaluation as on-campus courses, governed by IIT Kanpur’s Senate,” the IIT Kanpur posted on its official X account
IIT Kanpur has developed at least 85% of the coursework, and it will be delivered by long-term visiting faculty with selective industry inputs for practical relevance.
At least 50% of the final grade will come from exams that candidates must take in person at approved test centres in major Indian cities. If you live outside India, you can take the exam online with secure, monitored proctoring.
“These online programs are self-sustaining, ensuring long-term quality through advanced digital infrastructure and secure evaluations,” IIT Kanpur posted on X.
IIT Kanpur will offer hands-on learning that is supported through virtual labs, simulations, and project-based work. For courses that need real lab experience, hybrid options—like short campus visits—are also being considered.
Upon completion of the respective programmes, the following refund structure will apply:
- MTech Programmes: Full refund of the program fee (Rs 1,50,000)
- MSc Programmes: Full refund of the program fee (Rs 1,00,000)
- PG Diploma Programmes: 50% refund of the program fee ( Rs 50,000)
