IIT Kharagpur to honour GATE, JAM, JEE Advanced 2026 achievers under Platinum Jubilee fellowship

The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur will host the award ceremony for its Director’s Platinum Jubilee Excellence Fellowship (DPEF) 2026 today, recognising outstanding performers in GATE, JAM and JEE Advanced 2026. The fellowship is being presented as part of IIT Kharagpur’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, marking 75 years of the institute’s contributions to education, research and innovation.

The DPEF 2026 recognises exceptional academic performance across the three national-level examinations- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) and JEE (Advanced). The institute said the fellowship aims to celebrate academic distinction and encourage promising students to pursue excellence in higher education, research and innovation.

The award ceremony is scheduled to be held at 5:30 pm on September 9 at the Ben Gupta Auditorium of the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law at IIT Kharagpur.

The institute said the event will celebrate the achievements of the awardees while encouraging them to pursue further journeys in discovery, innovation and impactful research.

The fellowship forms part of IIT Kharagpur’s Platinum Jubilee programme, which marks 75 years of the institute. The institute’s Platinum Jubilee theme is “75 Years of Excellence | A Brighter Future Together".

Rs 1,000 crore campus transformation, course launch

Meanwhile, the institute is undertaking major infrastructure transformation with the aim of creating an inclusive and future-ready residential campus. The transformation will upgrade various aspects of campus life, including cultural activities, wellness and daily mobility.

IIT Kharagpur’s SETU wellness centre will have more than 25 private counsellor rooms, group-therapy spaces, seminar and support areas. The institute is also constructing and developing five new G+8 phase-II hostels. It will comprise three boys' and two girls' hostels, with a capacity for approximately 4,500 additional students.

The college hostels will have dining and kitchen facilities, technology rooms, libraries and reading rooms other than interaction spaces, music rooms, gyms and game rooms. 15 rooms will be reserved for differently abled students.
