IIT Madras, education ministry to host IInvenTiv 2025 expo from February 28 to March 1

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, in collaboration with the education ministry (MoE), will organize IInvenTiv 2025. The IInvenTiv 2025 is a national expo that will highlight research advancements from 'leading tech institutes' in India. TheIInvenTiv 2025 is scheduled for February 28 and March 1.

The union education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, will inaugurate IInvenTiv 2025 at the IIT Madras campus on February 28. The event will also be attended by prominent figures from industry and academia, as per IIT Madras.

IInvenTiv 2025: R&D projects from IITs, NITs, IISc, IISERs

The expo will showcase research and development projects from IITs, NITs, IISc, IISERs, and other top government and private engineering institutions ranked within the top 50 in the NIRF rankings. As per the IIT Madras official press release, the IInvenTiv 2025 expo aims to enhance industry awareness of these technological advancements and foster stronger collaboration between academia and industry. IIT Madras will host the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0, which is scheduled from February 15 to February 24, 2025.

IInvenTiv 2025: 300 participating institutions

As per IIT Madras, IInvenTiv 2025 will feature approximately 300 exhibits from participating institutions, including a significant presence of startups that originated from research and development projects undertaken by these institutions.

The event will focus on technologies at advanced Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) stages 7 to 9, which are prepared for commercialisation and can be directly transferred to the industry during the expo. IIT Madras hosted the 51st edition of Saarang 2025 from January 9 to January 13.

IInvenTiv 2025 Expo: Thematic areas of focus

The thematic areas that would be covered in the IInvenTiv 2025 expo event will include AI ML technologies, aviation, defence and space, marine technology, medical/healthcare engineering, rural technology, smart cities & infrastructure, advanced manufacturing and circularity and sustainability (energy and e-mobility).

The event will include an expo featuring stalls showcasing exhibits from participating institutions, along with plenary talks and panel discussions on various thematic areas. A ‘Chintan Shivir’ or brainstorming session will be held for each thematic area, involving experts from government, industry, academia, and start-ups.

Launch of coffee table book

A coffee table book highlighting significant technological innovations from Indian higher education institutions and their industrial impact will also be launched during the event.

Each session will begin with a lead talk and focus on the current R&D landscape and industry needs, followed by discussions on aligning academic research with these requirements. A rapporteur will draft an outcome paper summarizing the discussions, which will be presented at the event's conclusion.

V Kamakoti, director, IIT Madras, said, “IInvenTiv is a flagship event of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. This year, we have a lot more institutions taking part, including private institutions. This two-day event is to showcase the inventions and creativity of the institutions. We expect a lot of investors and large industries to take part in this event, which will facilitate Industry-Academia collaboration.”
