NEE DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi’s office of accessible education hosted NISHAAN 2025, a cultural event designed to showcase the creativity, diversity, and talents of students with disabilities. This year, the event saw the participation of students with disabilities from various colleges across Delhi.
As per the institute, the event was held on January 12, 2025, for students with disabilities to exhibit their abilities through various cultural activities, including music, dance, drama, painting, photography, as well as poetry and essay performances.
The event featured dynamic and graceful performances in the dance and music segments. Additionally, the wordsmith category presented poems from participants that engaged the audience. The event also celebrated artistic excellence in photography and painting/drawing categories.
According to IIT Delhi, a standout moment of NISHAAN was the performance by the ‘We Are One Dance Group,’ consisting of artists who are all persons with locomotor and hearing disabilities. “Through their dance, they conveyed a powerful message of diversity and inclusion. Their compelling performance thoroughly impressed everyone,” the press release read.
The NISHAAN 2025 concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the faculty advisors of the Office of Accessible Education to the audience for supporting the talent, passion, and dedication of all participants.
The institute further informed that following the success of NISHAAN 2025, IIT Delhi’s Office of Accessible Education is now preparing for SANGAM 2025, an inclusive sports event for students with disabilities, scheduled to take place in March 2025.
