IIT Madras launches certificate programme on operations, supply chain analytics for strategic decision making
The last date to register for the new certificate programme at IIT Madras is September 20.
Candidates can get access to all the details about JEE Advanced including eligibility, syllabus, exam pattern, sample papers, cutoff, counselling, seat allotment etc.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has launched a new certificate programme on ‘Operations and Supply Chain Analytics for Strategic Decision Making’. The new programme seeks to train managers to take critical decisions based on the available information and data. The new programme is being offered through the institute’s Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE).
The programme , as per an IIT Madras statement, focuses on building analytical foundations in the initial part of the programme -- modules 1 and 2, and then takes a deep dive into various practical applications in module 3.

Saying that the new certificate programme offers a comprehensive perspective on most of the operations and supply chain problems faced by the industry today, the institute further said: “The programme focuses on building these analytical skills such as optimization, game theory, probability theory, and statistical modelling, among others.”
While there are no specific eligibility criteria to apply, this programme assumes a basic understanding of mathematical and statistical concepts. It is expected that the participants are interested in analytical model building and data-driven decision-making.

Highlighting the need for such programmes, professor Rahul Marathe, department of management studies IIT Madras, said: “Managers need to take critical decisions that have to be based on available information and data. That makes data-driven decision-making skills the most critical skill in organizations today. ‘Decision Sciences’ can aid managers build the required framework to take optimal decisions.”

- Describe various methods of analytical modelling
- Demonstrate the application of modelling to areas of supply chain management
- Experiment with the dynamic and stochastic nature of supply chain management
- Formulate an operations and/or a supply chain problem as an analytical model and solve it using appropriate methodologies.
- Design an analytical decision-making tool for the supply chain configuration in specific industries and organizations
