Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras’ Centre of Excellence in Advanced Automotive Research (CAAR) will launch upskilling courses for software-defined automation in collaboration with Accenture LearnVantage - Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) academy.
The curriculum will be self-paced as well as taught by instructors from CAAR. It will include domain-specific modules and interactive learning environments. The modules will cover a variety of subjects like advanced Internet of Things (IoT), embedded systems and software, vehicle safety, communication protocols, cybersecurity, edge computing, and cloud virtualisation, an official press release said.
This Accenture partnership is for professionals at Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Global Capability Centres (GCC). According to an Accenture research estimate, the software-defined digital services sector will reach USD 3.5 trillion by 2040, and will come to account for 40% of the global automotive industry.
Accenture LearnVantage launched the SDV academy with a “specialised” curriculum to bridge this learning gap.
Accenture SDV academy will make sure to meet industry standards like AUTomotive Open System Architecture (AUTOSAR) and Automotive Software Process Improvement Capability Determination (ASPICE).

The software automation training by IIT Madras and Accenture will fill in the growing demand for skilled professionals in the industry, in order to drive the development of automated driving technology, advanced driver assistance systems, electrical/electronic architecture, connectivity, and infotainment systems, an official statement said.
Kishore Durg, global lead of Accenture LearnVantage said, “As vehicles transform into sophisticated software-defined machines, the automotive industry requires digital-native talent skilled in AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, and safety systems. Our collaboration with CAAR at IIT Madras is a game-changer, focused on transforming talent at scale for OEMs and GCCs in the sector.”
Krishnan Balasubramanian, professor-in-charge of CAAR, commented on the new IIT Madras programmes by calling it a “win-win” for all parties as something which enables upskilling of the next generation workforce in new areas like SDV.
TalentSprint, offering deep tech education and a part of Accenture LearnVantage, also offers a postgraduate level advanced certification programme in applied data science and machine learning in collaboration with IIT Madras.
