IIT Patna saw 78.94% increase in pre-placement offers; Highest package at Rs 54.5 lakh

A total of 34 BTech students bagged the PPOs till September as compared to 19 last year. Six students of IIT Patna was offered pre-placement offers from Google.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna saw a significant rise of 78.94 % in pre-placement offers (PPOs) this year. A total of 34 BTech students bagged the PPOs till September as compared to 19 last year. The placement season for the academic year 2021-22.
The companies from various sectors such as IT, finance, management and consultancy, core, analytics etc. have extended pre-placement offers in different domains to the students of 2022 graduating batch at IIT Patna.

Many students of IIT Patna who have done internships this summer (May – July) received offers based on their performance throughout the programme. These students did their internship in remote mode due to COVID-19 pandemic induced lockdown across the country. The students’ interviews process was held in online mode.
Six students of IIT Patna was offered pre-placement offers from Google. Adobe, Gojek, Media.net and Morgan Stanley have offered PPOs to one student each.
Salesforce, an American cloud-based software company headquartered in San Francisco, California has also offered pre-placement offer to 2 students.

The investment banking firm Goldman Sachs has extended PPO to 3 students. The insurance and healthcare firm Optum has offered PPO to 7 students, Samsung Research Bangalore to 3 students, and Publicis Sapient has offered to 3 students.
The other major firms who have extended PPOs include Innovaccer, Mathswork, Intuit, and Expedia. The maximum pay package of the PPO offers was Rs 54.5 lakhs while other top offers varied between Rs 25 to 53 lakhs. The average package of the PPOs received so far is around 24 lakhs per annum.
“Surge in PPOs is the testimony of our students' resilience and commitment during summer internships,” Kripa Shankar, Training and Placement Officer, IIT Patna, said.
Jose V Parambil, Professor-In-charge Training and Placement, IIT Patna said: “Institute is still awaiting PPOs of many more students and numbers will improve.

The full-time hiring of the 2022 graduating batch will pick up pace from the month of October 2021. This year also the entire placement processes including PPT, online test and interviews will be held in virtual mode, the official statement said.
