IIT Roorkee warns students against fake internships, denies links with unauthorised training courses

Institute flags misuse of its name by external entities like Launched Global, urges students to verify offers through official channels
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has issued a statement cautioning students and stakeholders against fraudulent internship and training programmes being circulated by unauthorised external entities.
The institute said in the official statement that it has come to its notice that certain organisations are falsely claiming association with IIT Roorkee while promoting internship and training opportunities. Clarifying its position, the institute stated that it has no collaboration or connection with such entities, including one identified as “Launched Global.”
IIT Roorkee emphasised that it does not authorise any third-party organisation to offer internships or training programmes on its behalf in this manner. The institute also made it clear that it does not endorse paid internship offers being circulated through unauthorised platforms claiming affiliation with IIT Roorkee.

The statement urged students to remain vigilant and not fall prey to misleading claims. It advised that all internship or training opportunities associated with the institute should be verified only through official communication channels of IIT Roorkee.
The development comes amid growing concerns over online scams targeting students with fake academic and training opportunities. The institute reiterated the need for caution and awareness to prevent exploitation of students seeking internships and skill development programmes.
IIT Roorkee Internships
Some of the genuine IIT Roorkee internships that come almost every year are;
SPARK IIT Roorkee: The SPARK (Summer Program for Awareness, Research and Knowledge) is IIT Roorkee’s summer internship programme aimed at offering undergraduate and postgraduate students hands-on research experience.
iHUB IIT Roorkee Internships: Diginique TechLabs in collaboration with iHUB IIT Roorkee provides project-based winter and summer internships lasting 4–8 weeks. These programmes include two weeks of live online training followed by a take-home project, focusing on areas like AI, machine learning and data science. Open to students from BE/BTech, BCA, BSc, ME/MTech, MCA and PhD backgrounds, the internships offer certificates recognised under AICTE guidelines for mandatory training.
