IIT Roorkee to hold 22nd convocation ceremony on April 6; 2,022 students to get degrees

IIT Roorkee Convocation 2023: The institute will award degrees to 1,005 undergraduate, 638 PG and 379 PhD students on April 6.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will host its 22nd annual convocation ceremony on April 6 for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students. Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be the chief guest at the ceremony, a statement from the institute said.
Students from 26 departments of the institute will be awarded degrees on the occasion. The convocation ceremony will commence at 10 AM in the convocation hall of the institute. The event will begin with IIT Roorkee director KK Pant presenting the annual report. Following which the education minister will be presenting the institute level awards and the convocation address.

This year, 1,005 UG, 638 PG and 379 PhD students will receive their degrees, IIT Roorkee said. As many as 125 awards will be conferred on the meritorious students in both UG and PG courses.
IIT Roorkee director Pant said, "We are looking forward to welcoming the minister of education Dharmendra Pradhan. A convocation is a solemn occasion that brings a smile to every graduating student and their family. We have always guided and supported the students in their endeavours.
“IIT Roorkee today provides an excellent all-round education with extremely high selectivity and diverse input with students from different parts of the country from different economic and social backgrounds. I congratulate the graduating students and wish them all the best for their future endeavours,” he added.
The institute further informed that it is currently providing higher education to approximately 10,000 students, including students from 27 other countries. The institute has recently revised its UG curriculum to align with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
