IIT Roorkee wins 10th CII Industrial IP Awards 2024 for excellence in India's IP Ecosystem

IIT Roorkee: The active utilization of various government schemes provides crucial support in promoting IP management and technology commercialization.
NEW DELHI : The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has been awarded with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Intellectual Property (IP) Award 2024 to recognize its contributions to innovation, IP management, and commercialization of technologies. The award highlights the Institute’s leadership in promoting an IP-savvy ecosystem and working towards India’s technological advancement.
IIT Roorkee’s achievement is a direct result of its innovation ecosystem, which integrates research, collaboration with industries, and commitment to protect intellectual property, the IIT Roorkee official statement said.
The key factor contributing to success is the active utilization of various government schemes which provides crucial support and enables IIT Roorkee to promote an environment where IP management and technology commercialization are prioritized, the IIT Roorkee statement adds.

IIT Roorkee’s success in IP management
According to IIT Roorkee's official statement, this year, the institute has marked a record-breaking number of IP filings and granted patents. It has set a new benchmark with an increase in patent applications filed and granted. The faculty has shown their drive to create and promote technologies that are innovative and can also address real-world challenges across diverse sectors.
Additionally, IIT Roorkee has also made efforts in the commercialization of its technologies. With a technology transfer and innovation cell, the institute has facilitated various partnerships with industry partners, start-ups, and government agencies.
KK Pant the director of IIT Roorkee said: “We are extremely proud to receive the CII IP Award 2024, which is a recognition of our sustained efforts to create an IP-driven culture at IIT Roorkee. We will continue to leverage government schemes and collaborate with industry to enhance the commercialization of our technologies and make a lasting impact on society.”
