IIT Ropar releases list of candidates shortlisted for PhD admission 2023 interview
The chemistry, physics and HSS will conduct the interview for IIT Ropar PhD admission 2023 on November 5 and maths department will hold it on November 7.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Ropar) has released the list of candidates shortlisted for interviews for PhD admissions 2023 on the official website, iitrpr.ac.in.
The departments which have released the list of shortlisted candidates include chemistry, physics, mathematics, and humanities and social sciences. The chemistry, physics and HSS departments hold the interview on December 5 while the mathematics department will conduct the interviews on December 7. The PhD classes will start in January 2024.
Regular PhD admission procedure
Candidates will be admitted to the regular PhD programme of the IIT Ropar through a selection process under any one of the following categories:
Institute fellowship: Candidates under this category are entitled for institute research assistantship/fellowship as per the education ministry.
Government/semi government fellowship awardees such as PMRF, CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF, DST-INSPIRE, DBT, NBHM, PMRF, QIP or any other full time fellowship: Such candidates will be financially supported under various schemes and the admission procedure are the same as applicable to research scholars/institute fellowship.
Fellowship through Project (FTP): The admission procedure and other requirements for research fellows (JRFs/SRFs) in various projects/schemes in the institute who wish to enrol for the PhD programme are the same as applicable to institute research scholars. They will be paid assistantship/fellowships as per the norms of the project and sanctioned amount.
Self-financed Indian nationals: The candidates admitted under this category are not eligible for any financial support from the IIT Ropar. Candidates with the provisional DST Inspire fellowship award letter may apply under SelfFinance (SF) category.
Sponsored candidate (SW): The candidates admitted under this category are not eligible for any financial support from the Institute (IIT Ropar) and are sponsored by their employers. They are expected to be relieved for full time course work and research at the institute for a minimum period of three years.

Part-time PhD
A candidate in this category is a professionally employed having regular employment in government organisations (including IIT Ropar regular staff), who pursues the Ph.D. program while continuing the duties of the employment. The institute does not provide any financial assistance/fellowship to such a candidate.
