IITGN to host online lectures on Indian Knowledge Systems elective
IIT Gandhinagar will conduct two online lectures by Srinivas Reddy on January 20 and 21

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar (IITGN) will conduct two online lectures by Srinivas Reddy, renowned scholar, translator, and musician as part of the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) elective course lecture series. The topics of the lectures are ‘Sweeter than Honey: The Advent and Rise of Classical Telugu Literature’ and ‘Conquest of the World: Krishnadevaraya’s Amuktamalyada’. The lectures will be delivered on January 20 and 21.
“Reddy’s first lecture will be on the first five centuries of classical Telugu literature, and the second lecture will be focused on a Telugu literature text, Amuktamalyada written by a 16th century Vijayanagara king Krishnadevaraya. Reddy, a concert sitarist and an author, studied classical South Asian languages and literature at UC Berkeley. He is teaching at Brown University and IITGN,” said a statement from IITGN.

“These lectures are being hosted as part of the sixth edition of the introduction to Indian knowledge systems elective course, on the theme ‘pre-colonial India’s treasure house of literature'. The online course is made available to not just IITGN students, but anyone interested in the topic,” it said.
Interested candidates can join the course for free through online registration at iks.iitgn.ac.in . All lectures of this course will also be live-streamed on IITGN's official YouTube channel .

IIT Gandhinagar has recently invited applications for its interdisciplinary MSc in Cognitive Science and MA in Society and Culture programmes. The last date to apply for both the master's programmes is January 20, 2022.
