Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women to have new campus in Narela: Sisodia

The Kejriwal government has announced that the new campus of IGDTUW will be established at Narela for around 25,000 students.

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) will soon have a new campus in Narela, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia announced while attending the 4th convocation ceremony at the present campus. The campus has been built on 50 acres of land and can accommodate around 25,000 students.

"I am happy to see that students of IGDTUW have secured good packages from famous companies. But we have to make sure that, for the development of the country, we must have more job providers,” he said and announced the launch of a new campus.

Sisodia said the University must emphasize on research. "This University has played an important role in the development of Delhi as well as the country. Now they must focus on quality research by collaborating with the government and different organizations," he said.

"As an Education Minister, I always expected this University to provide quality and quantity education to its students and I am happy to say that this University has achieved both the goals. We are trying our best to give quality education to each and every student in Delhi. Seats must be increased in institutions like IGDTUW and we will provide all possible support to the University in doing so. The Delhi Government is the only Government that gives 25% of its annual budget to education," he said.

The university awarded degrees to around 368 undergraduates, 131 postgraduates, and 13 doctoral students at the convocation. Graduates of the academic year 2020-2021 were also present at the convocation. Two chancellor's gold medals, fourteen vice chancellor's gold medals and fourteen silver plaques were awarded to all the toppers of various programmes offered by the university on the occasion for their exemplary performance throughout the years.
