Intent to hire freshers dips 3% in media, entertainment, says study

TeamLease EdTech’s 'Career Outlook Report HY1 (January-June 2024)’ finds roles like video editor, unity developer and SEO executive are in high demand.
NEW DELHI: TeamLease EdTech has found a 3% decline in media and entertainment companies’ intent to hire freshers. The findings have been published in 'Career Outlook Report HY1 (January-June 2024)’ of the TeamLease EdTeach. The survey covered 526 small, medium, and large companies across 18 industries across India.
The report read Intent to hire freshers in the media and entertainment industry has declined from 21% in July-December 2023 to 18% in January-June 2024. While the overall intent to hire freshers across the sectors rose 6% year-on-year, the report reveals.
The preference of job roles in media and entertainment varied across cities. The demand of video editors (27%) was the highest in Delhi while Bangalore leads for production assistants (23%). Mumbai and Delhi are top choices for unity developers, capturing 25% and 21% respectively. Chennai is a hotspot for SEO executives (21%), and Mumbai remains a hotspot for graphic designers at 19%.
Tier-two cities are also emerging as a market for the media and entertainment industry. In Indore, demand for video editors is at 17% while Coimbatore and Kochi need production assistants. The city of Nagpur reflected demand for unity developers. Pune with 19%, Kochi with 13% needs SEO talent. Lastly, Chennai with 15% and Kolkata at 10% has demand for Graphic Designers.
“The Media & Entertainment sector seems to be consolidating its fresher hiring efforts, even as other industries capitalize on the positive economic sentiment," said Shantanu Rooj, CEO of TeamLease EdTech.
