IP University releases e-magazine for persons with disability

NEW DELHI: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University or IP University started an e-magazine called ‘Inclusion & Accessibility' to amplify the voices of persons with disabilities (PwD). This initiative was spearheaded by the University School of Management Studies (USMS), IP University.

“Four issues of Inclusion & Accessibility have been released already,” says the founder and editor of the e-magazine, Shalini Garg.

Writings by eminent persons with disabilities and persons engaged for the cause of persons with disabilities have been included in these magazine copies.

“The idea of starting this e-magazine for PwD struck during the COVID-19 pandemic period. The idea has been realised, and this initiative has now become a forum to amplify the voice of such persons”, said Garg.

Many disability experts from reputed companies like Microsoft, SHRM India, etc have made their contributions to this magazine.

“Nitin Gupta, national-level para-athlete, Deepa Malik, president of PCI, Satish Sarhadi, director of SAI are other eminent personalities who have actively contributed to this magazine by taking time from their busy schedules,” says an official statement from the university.

Recently, as many as 1,500 special care centres were launched by the Kerala government across the state to assist differently-abled children in state schools, as per the report by the Hindu. These centres were launched under the Samagra Shiksha scheme with the aim to give individual support so as to bridge the learning gap between them and their peers. Customised learning materials, autism therapy and orientation for parents will be provided through these centres for the academic growth and skill development of these children.
