Jamia expels 2 J-K students from hostel over disruption during India Australia world cup match

The two students involved in bursting fire crackers on India's loss will have to vacate the hostel within three days.

NEW DELHI: Two students have been expelled from the Jamia Millia Islamia University hostel in New Delhi for bursting fire crackers on India's loss with Australia in the Men’s World Cup final 2023.

The Discipline Committee of MMA Jauhar Hall of Boys Residence, Jamia Milla Islamia in its meeting regarding the major violation of Hostel By-laws by the two Residents of FRK Hostel on the night of November !9, 2023 for indulging in bursting fire cracker in the common room of the Hostel.

The firecrackers triggered anger among a group of students who were upset over India’s loss by seven wickets. This caused a tense situation and verbal clashes between students.

"It has been decided by the Discipline Committee of MMA Jauhar Hall of Boys’ Residence that above two residents of FRK Hostel are expelled from the hostel on the facts that these two residents have violated the law, which is of very serious in nature, therefore, their admission to hostel is cancelled", the order read.

Following these complaints, the disciplinary committee found two students involved in the incident identified as Faiz Ur Rahman, an Arabic student and Balal Ahmed, geography student.

Considering this as a serious offence, their admission to hostel has been cancelled. The students will have to vacate the hostel within three days.
