3 Jamia Millia Islamia students receive MEDHA fellowship

Fellowship provides financial assistance to students from economically weaker sections to continue higher studies in the Life-sciences, Biotechnology, Pharma disciplines.
NEW DELHI: Three Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) students have been awarded Bayer Fellowship - MEDHA 2022-2023. The selected students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000 to complete their master’s program for two years. The three students are from MSc Biotechnology department -- Ayesha Saubia, Ashwani Singh and Yashika Arora.
The Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India is facilitating the Bayer Fellowship Program – MEDHA offered by Bayer CropScience Limited, a JMI statement said.

Congratulating the students and wishing the good luck, Professor Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, JMI said: “These students were selected based on their academic profile and interview performances from hundreds of applicants. I hope that it will motivate other students of the university also do better.”

The MEDHA fellowship combines annual financial assistance with the opportunity of receiving mentorship under Bayer’s employees as well as industry experts. The fellowship provides financial assistance to students from economically weaker sections of the society to continue higher studies (Master’s and PhD) in the Life-sciences / Biotechnology / Pharma disciplines.
The students will also get an opportunity to visit Bayer’s research labs, interact with industry experts, gain exposure and build their knowledge base. The target of the fellowship is to enable the fellows to achieve their short and long-term academic and professional goals, the JMI statement added.
